Boys & Girls Club of Moody County Build
Our highlight of summer has turned into fun in the fall! The Garden Program is such a fun and uplifting program that we are so excited to be able to work with it year 'round. The Boys & Girls Club of Moody County decided to partner with us to provide students in their summer and after school program some hands-on curriculum. Partnering with groups like this is pure joy for our staff.
The students that were available at the build helped to use power tools, wheelbarrows and five gallon pails. Teamwork, as you can see in the photos posted, was one of the main ingredients during this build. The students were so excited to be involved and get their hands in the soil. It is always so great to see children taking the initiative to grab the wheelbarrows and pail handles and move the soil from the pile into each garden bed.
Another pillar of the garden program is responsibility. As you can see in the photos, the students took full responsibility of the project and got right to work. They picked up shovels and started right in with the hard work. This was one of the fastest builds in GroundWorks history with the assistant of a skidsteer and all of the kids digging in right away!
Students, GroundWorks Staff and board members, City of Flandreau personnel, and volunteers from Flandreau United Methodist Church came together to build and fill four garden beds in less than an hour!
We are so thankful for this partnership and are so excited to provide curriculum with this program and see what The Boys & Girls Club of Moody County does with it!
